Get a FREE Month of Starlink Satellite Internet!! | Helping YOU Helps US too!
Starlink has Supported the Mission of TIAG Since Day 1! We couldn't have done it all the same way without the incredible versatility and power of Starlink Satellite Wi-Fi.
Hey Folks! It’s Jamon.
For over 5 years since we bought our camper and Launched The Independent American Gardener event Hosting Program, we have been using Starlink Satellite internet, where we are able to get high speed Wi-Fi in even the most REMOTE client locations anywhere in North America.
Working from our camper during the 4 year tour with our family of 7 and a husky,
this was IDEAL, as we found ourselves in some of the most back-woods off-grid locations you can imagine as we drove four “Figure 8” Loops coast to coast, teaching and traveling all the way with you good people. (And Loved It!)
Now, while we are still 100% off grid, but stationary in the Ozark Mountains building the 1st of its kind TIAG Community HUB at the Rural Scale-We do not have access to other Wi-Fi services capable of the speeds and stability our work demands to deliver the materials that our good people (You) Need from us!
So we are still using Starlink to meet this need!
Nevertheless, times are tough. So we’re reaching out to help anyone else switching to Starlink, with a FREE MONTH of Service. In turn, this helps us as we receive the same blessing here in our remote off-grid HUB. In this way, Everyone wins!
You can get 1 Free Month (And help us get 1 free Month)

Here’s what we use Starlink for, routinely:
High-speed data transfer of 100’s of Gigabytes worth of Video, Audio, and 4k Visuals from our travels and workflow to google CLOUD services, YouTube, Dropbox, client portals and dashboards, and other online storage clouds.
Remote Satellite Viewing of Client Permaculture Properties for active Designs
Planning our travel routes to Your homes, Communities, and Unique properties.
Streaming 4k Video, You tube, and the occasional family movie night
Hosting Live Streams and Webinars from anywhere in the Country at a moments notice, Zoom calls with our tribe, and Wi-Fi calls where CELL SIGNAL FAILS.
Recording and uploading Video and Images from our Phones to Cloud storage during in person Property Consultations and Travel for Workshops and Classes
Basic Social Media, writing this very post as we speak, and More!
We routinely get well above 200mbps, often even in storms.
Here’s a Speed Test screenshot of my system taken from my phone:
Here's one free month of Starlink service! Starlink high-speed internet is great for streaming, video calls, Design Work, and even gaming in even the most remote locations on Earth. Current dishes even allow for full service while MOVING.. WOW.
What sucks about Starlink:
Not much! But there are a few things to consider:
The cord from the dish to the router is required, and you’ll need to plan where to run that cord. For us this was no big deal, however, with our constant moving from state to state, all 6 kiddos, dog, and many closing doors and moving windows/slides etc. We have destroyed 2 cords over 3 campers in 4 years. So it is something to be mindful of. We always “Planned” to drill a hole and mount permanently, but than we ended up moving the Starlink to use from a table, park bench, truck bed, or some other location away from the camper. So that never happened and the whole unit was moved a lot. Which actually attests to its rigidity and strength as an off-grid portable Wi-Fi solution. Its held up FANTASTICALLY in that respect. Just don’t cut the cord!
Stormy Weather - This was a problem in the beginning, but the last year or so during the famous Midwest storms we have not had any outages, with the exception of the occasional slow buffering in peak hours during storms. As a contrast, during these incredible floods and torrential rains experienced nationally the last couple years specifically, Starlink actually helped SAVE LIVES, providing communications and internet access to stranded survivors where not even cell towers or municipal electrical grids were left operational to provide critical communications. This makes Starlink an invaluable asset in emergency preparedness to consider in disaster and wartime scenarios.
Expense/Cost - Where fiber is available in our other locations, such as Trenton, MO where we are working to restore a special building as the new headquarters of TIAG, Event Center, Demonstration Site, holistic smoothie bar stocked by local Food Forests and gardens, and Provide Permaculture Education throughout our network and locally - prices were about 86$ a month to meet our needs. Starlink, however, fills the gap where our OFFGRIDNESS does not allow for cables and grid tied power, and we are happy to pay the $150mo we pay for our high speed remote Wi-Fi. Especially given that our home and camper is 100% Solar powered, which relieves us of the $300-$600 municipal bill we did pay, that we and others across the globe are all so accustomed to and familiar with. (One of the Most Fragile and self-imposed anti-sovereign systems of modern times. But I wont get into that yet.)
The last Con to consider is that while there is an inherent freedom to set it up wherever you want-such as a trailer with its own solar array and internal Ecoflow battery banks that can be used to help locals in emergency situations-there is an inherent risk in anything you get for MOBILE use, in that it can be damaged more easily. In most cases it will be stationary, but in our case we absolutely did damage it. However, Starlink customer service replaced 2 cables for us no questions asked, all through a very simple intuitive chat experience in their app, and we got both cables replaced for free and they even sent an extra the 1st time which we kept on hand for the off-chance we ever needed it. (Which we did, turns out.)
This is all pretty small stuff I am happy to overlook and work with.
If you’ve been pondering getting Starlink, please do! You will be satisfied, like I am. And we’d appreciate the mutual benefit by using our link below when you sign up:
All this being said I don’t think there is a better option from the lens of independent, self-sufficient properties.
Simply put, That’s why WE Use it.
You can even pause your service anytime you want in-app, which halts all billing until un-paused. And if you are ever unsatisfied, you can unlink your Starlink system from your account, and sell it to another who wants to get set up. In my area (Springfield Missouri) used units are going for around $300. Remember, you OWN the hardware outright. No strings, you just have to un-link it from your account to sell it.
For us, we want to get a SECOND Starlink system-the Mobile ready version that allows you to maintain Wi-Fi-connection while in motion-and mount it permanently on our enclosed Beehive and tool Delivery Trailer. This trailer we want to outfit to serve our communities with everything needed to make a powerful impact in any scenario of work or emergencies, as a self-contained unit complete with its own power and internet through solar, Ecoflow, and Starlink systems. We already have the Trailer, the Solar Panels, the Battery Banks, the Wiring, and the essential material and tools to put it all together. We’re just missing the 2nd Starlink system, and to make a little time to build it!
In this case, We’ll simply pause the Starlink Wi-Fi when not in use, and since Starlink allows you to OWN YOUR HARDWARE, there is no ridiculous recurring billing for “Equipment Rental” when service is stopped or paused.
Want it on the house, Off-grid Shed, Tiny House, or Shipping Container?
The stationary plan and Hardware is an even cheaper monthly than our mobile plan.
All of this said, I am a fan of Starlink.
And we are hoping to help as many people as we can get their 1st month FREE, which in turn helps us get a month free as well. We could use your help!
If you know someone considering Starlink, please send them this post!
This extra boost can help you save funds for other projects (Like your solar system), and for us, it helps us cover our immediate operating expenses involved in producing the content and support we produce for you, much of which we do 100% free and do not get paid in any way for, just to be clear.
You could say TIAG is our “passion project”, to create the world we want to see in our life for the “right now”, and the future generations our kids will inherit whether they like it or not.. The Independent American Gardener MATTERS more every day.
Nevertheless, like many passion projects, It does NOT yet pay our bills. One day It will, and in-fact it will even pay YOUR bills (Literally! I’m happy to explain if you’d like).
But it does not yet cover all our expenses, and never has for the years we’ve been building this since it all stared with our small family business building garden beds out of the original Lulus Garden in our driveway.. Everything we’ve done is 100% self-financed, and we work hard through much blood sweat and tears to pull all this off, as a father and mother to our little family 1st, just like many of you, I can imagine you know what I mean when I say, It’s a good struggle though, and we love it!
My independent work as a consultant pays my families bills. And everything else circulates through TIAG to keep the mission moving forward.
Which is why it is so important that we take opportunities like this to offer support to our great community in ways that also mutually support us, through programs like this “Give 1 get 1” from Starlink.
I’m sure everyone could use that Free Month right now!

Everything is getting more expensive in todays world, Including one of my favorite aspects of the vision for TIAG and its many programs, I.E. our LIVE Events, our fuel and travel expenses to your community, where I come and help show you and your neighbors how to start their permaculture gardens, grow food, catch rain, store energy… etc. etc.
There is a need for more collaborative autonomy in the world.
I believe Starlink helps to that end.
